‘’This is the time for our region to rise up as we have
been left behind by Western, Northern and Southern Africa where we only receive
7% of the world international tourists. However, we are endowed with so many
tourists’ attractions which are unique and this program is customized to
increase the number of tourists in our region and country by 2022 where we will
add up to 5million tourists which will lead to the generation of $17 billion
and 8 million jobs.’’ Deogratius Kilawe-Mikono Speakers.
East Africa Tourism
& Hospitality Conference and Trade Expo is Tanzania’s leading
business-to-customer (B2C) event which attracts representatives of the
hospitality and tourism industry from East Africa region and other parts of the
world. This is the only event in Tanzania where tourism and hospitality
companies have a chance to do direct sales to corporate bodies, the general
public, and expatriate communities in Tanzania. The event is designed to ensure
that at the end of the event every exhibitor will be able to determine how much
direct sales of their packages especially holiday packages have been sold to
customers. The public will attend this event because they will want to buy
their holiday packages at a discounted rate for the coming holiday season. The
event will take place at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Center on
the 17th & 18th of November accompanied by other events namely World
Embassy Festival, Eco-outdoor Adventure Travel Experience Expo, Dar Carnival
and the Food & Drinks Expo granting you a very unique Tourism
Expo experience.
The C.E.O of Mikono
Speakers disclosed that the East Africa Tourism and
Hospitality expo and Dar Carnival 2017 are aimed at promoting
international and domestic tourism by making Tanzanians see the need to
patronize the country’s tourism as it targets 30% of Tanzanians exploring the
country in the next five years with over 8 million direct and indirect jobs to
be created.
‘’Low Budget Tourism is the future and if Tanzania want to reach
there we need to learn from what is happening in South Africa which has
increased its tourists by using low budget tourism, apart from that, technology
is the centre of everything now and the government and tourism stakeholders
need to use it, we want to get to the point where when people enter their
hotels they can do a digital check in and out and the same to be effective at
airports and national parks.
Another area which
needs to be improved in East Africa is the payment system where hotels and
other stakeholders need to use POS and accept new form of
payments like IPRO COINS, BITCOINS GOOGLE WALLET, APPLE PAY and others, by
employing these new means we will reach far.
